Hairdressing NVQ Level 1 and Hairdressing NVQ Level 2
Let me tell you that this profession needs all the hard work like the other professions. Living in the UK, you can be a Hairdresser NVQ very easily. I am sure many of you are evaluating that what does it stands for? So, it’s simple National Vocational Qualification.
On a Hairdressing NVQ Course you will perform both hands on and written work covering different hairdressing tasks such as:
Helping other hairdressers in and out of the saloon
Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp
Reception staff duties and saloon duties
Hair Dye colour removal from clients hair in the saloon or in clients homes
Cleaning clients hair
HSE training in hairdressing
In addition to the hairdressing side of the qualification, you will learn practical work including Information Technology and communications,
Each hairdressing NVQ training course provider has their own criteria for accepting new candiates on their hairdressing NVQ course. Most NVQ training course companies require new canditates to have at least 2 GCSEs at a grade E level. Alternatively an entry level qualification such as skills for working life will be accepted.
As a hairstylist apprentice you will be dealing with the public so you should have a high level of personal hygiene and good communication skills and be able to work well on your own.
Once completing the hairdressing NVQ level 1 training course, you can move onto a NVQ hairdressing level 2 course to learn more about your trade.
With a NVQ level 2 you will study all areas of hairdressing and will prepare you to become a qualified hairdresser.Hairdressing assessements will be ongoing through the whole year of the course, and canditates are expected to pass each assessment.
